What is meditation?

Meditation is a way of working with the mind and body which can provide a wide variety of benefits, such as:

  • Letting go of knee-jerk reactivity to stress and learning to rest in the present moment
  • Getting in touch with your emotions and healing past traumas
  • Opening the heart and finding deep inner resources of love and compassion for yourself and the people around you
  • Exploring the different roles you play in life, and seeing that these facets of the self are not truly fixed or confining in the way that they can sometimes feel
  • Finding a sense of grounding and resilience that helps you to weather the storms life throws at you
  • Discovering a source of inner well-being which nobody can take away from you
  • Opening the door to deeper insights into the nature of yourself, your mind and your experience which can lead to a profound sense of freedom and joy

Learning to meditate can seem daunting, but it doesn't have to be!

I've written a free e-book which will get you started in no time. Featuring:
  • A complete six-week course in meditation, covering a wide range of techniques including mindfulness, heart-opening, self-inquiry and concentration.
  • Detailed discussion of practicalities like sitting posture, when to practise, how to deal with sleepiness and mind wandering.
  • Additional exercises which bring the benefits of your meditation practice into daily life.
  • Suggestions for structuring an on-going meditation practice after you've finished the six-week course.

The book is available in a range of electronic formats - see the links below.
